When me and my family were thinking of going to Italy, we were looking for a place that not was too “tourist-crowded”. And the place should also have a reasonable distance to some of  Italian main culture places. And, coming from the North part of Europe we also thought that bath, beaches and guaranteed sunshine was important (the summer in Sweden is often much too rainy). Through friends staying in Castellabate, up in the mountains, we got our eyes on Santa Maria...and we found Domus Cilento on the Internet. We have already spent twice our holidays in Domus Cilento and we have already made a reservation for this summer.....
Santa Maria di Castellabate is a nice place and resort. And the place has not yet been overrun by English, Swedish or German tourists. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is more of living together with and next to the Italian people, than being a (foolish) tourist. The beaches at Santa Maria di Castellabate are not very big, but the maintenance is perfect and the water is clean.
We also find that Domus Cilento is the perfect place for us. No more than an hour drive from places and occurrences worth seeing. The view from the terrace is wonderful – even better than you find it in the pictures at the website. Beautiful flowers in the garden-surroundings. The apartments are basic, but functionally, furnished. The cleaning is good. You feel safe during your stay. Gates from road, etcetera. You live close to the city with all affairs/shops – but not too close. Nice people taking care of the place and you.
And the best of all – now they also got the swimming pool. I am sure that will be the finishing touch which will make the place perfect.
